Summary:This research was carried out to study the teachers’ understanding and perception about some controversial issues regarding science ethics. The research involved 30 teachers selected random from several schools in Johor Bahru. The questionnaires consisted of a series of questions that touches on cloning, organ donation, using of pork gelatin in medicine and the using of tools of life-supporting. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods of quantitative and qualitative. The finding showed that the teachers' understanding on the issue of cloning is good, their understanding on the issue of organ donation and using of tools of life-supporting are better. However, their understanding of the issue on the use of pork gelatin is still modest. There are differences in perceptions amongst the teachers regarding to these controversial issues based on their religion. The results also showed that Muslim teachers have different perceptions compared to non-Muslim teachers on the ethical issues.
