Summary:This study aims to identify the relationship between emotional intelligence and job performance of SJKC teachers in Kota Tinggi, Johor. Respondents were 150 SJKC teachers in Kota Tinggi. Teacher’s Emotional intelligence was measured using the Emotional Intelligence Scale Index (EQI) formed by Goleman (1995). Meanwhile, teachers's job performance was measured using a questionnaire and the source of previous literature review (Wragg, 1987; Marsh, 1997; Kharuddin, 1998; Lee, 1999). Descriptive statistics and statistical inference in the form of Pearson correlation coefficient was used to test hypotheses on the significant level. Hypothesis testing results indicate the findings of the data analysis found that the level of emotional intelligence and the level of performance among SJKC teachers in Kota Tinggi is located in a high level. The hypothesis is by using Pearson correlation test is found that there is a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and job performance among SJKC teachers in Kota Tinggi (r = 0.423). Thus, overall the researchers concluded that the study found that there is a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and job performance of SJKC teachers in Kota Tinggi.
