Description
Summary:Work commitment among principals is a key factor to ensure success of the schools. This research was triggered by the lack of work commitment of principals from public secondary schools in the cities of West Sumatra province. The research identified the organizational culture and incentives as factors of work commitments of principal from public secondary schools. A mixed approach method as a form of concurrent embedded design was adopted in the research. The populations of the research comprised 150 principals of public secondary schools in the cities of West Sumatra province. 116 were randomly selected to participate in the questionnaire survey and seven principals from seven cities were selected for interviews. Data for multiple regression were analyzed using SPSS Program Version 16.0 and qualitative data were analyzed thematically. The results showed that the organizational culture and incentives independently or combined can be a predictor of work commitments of principals at these public secondary schools. The implication of the research suggests that the work commitment of the school principal can be improved successfully through the improvement of organizational culture and incentive given to the principals.
