Summary:Federal Lands Commissioner was established under Federal Lands Commissioner’s Act 1957 (Act 349) as an entrusted body to hold lands for the sake of Federal Government. The Commissioner is responsible for the management of the lands as to ensure the lands to be benefited for stakeholders. As referring to the state of Perak, Federal Government holds about 2960 lot of land which covered about 13,054.25 hectares (33,258.357 acres). However, 89 lot are left abandoned due to several factors. This study is focusing on 1,222 acres of federal land situated at Sungkai, District of Batang Padang, Perak. There are two main objectives in this study. Firstly, to study the cause and effects of the will arise due to the abandoned land of Federal Government at Sungkai, District of Batang Padang, Perak. Secondly, to establish solution that can be implemented as ways to prevent the lands left abandoned. The data has been collected via interview which involves ten respondents. Then, the data collected will be analysed by using the method of qualitative via content analysis and descriptive analysis. The finding shows financial constraints and ineffective management had led the land left abandoned. There are several negative impacts lead to this situation such as encroachment of land by illegal party and the quit rent payable by the Federal Government to the state government will be unfruitful. Next, the subjected lands are not fully utilised lead to the land left abandoned and unattended. Due to this negative impacts, the State of Perak needs to bear bad consequences. Finally, the researcher underlines the solutions that can be implemented in order to solve this problem.
