Description
Summary:The real estate industry is increasingly challenging with the increasing number of unsold units resulting from low levels of home ownership. The issue of the inability to buy a home at market rates is also a major challenge in the Affordable Housing Policy (2018). The government's intervention in introducing various incentives during the 2019 Budget presentation was to encourage homeownership while reducing the sale of residential units. This study will identify barriers to housing ownership and identify incentives that help increase home ownership. The study found that the main obstacle that influenced the ownership of the M40 home was housing prices. Whereas the most influential incentives for ownership were a 10% reduction in the sale price of new and existing projects / projects during the Home Ownership Campaign, the relaxation of the terms of the first housing financing and first home purchase through the Fundmyhome. It is hoped that this study will assist the Government in making policy decisions on homeownership especially for the M40. The findings also agree that the campaign period will be extended and some improvements need to be made to ensure that home prices are reasonable with location and household income. The next study was to look at the relationship between home ownership barriers and Government incentives from the perspective of owners and non-owners who are the main focus of increasing home ownership.
