One of the main standard for this country to be recognized as a developing country is to have an uniform and rapid infrastructure, social and economic development within the city and rural area. Therefore, the main point of central government planning is to ensure that every rural development plan needs to be in line with the development planning implemented in the city. With the arrival of 2020, the year that has been set as Vision 2020, Malaysia should have become a developing country not only physically, but also socially and economically. However, the development activities, is only concentrated in the city area and not to the rural areas. The development of rural area is still unfavourable and necessary to transformation which enables its development in tandem with the nation's development. Thus, from the issue that been disccused, this research paper was implemented to study and identify the causes and factors that hindered the land development in Gerik. The aim of this study is to examine the challenges faced in land development in Gerik district as well as propose improvements for the resolution of land development issues in the area. The methodology of the study is using sets of questionnaires, interviews and observations for gather the information and data needed on regarding the problems of study. The study was conducted in three stages, namely literature and theoretical studies, stage two i.e. data and information collection and stage three i.e. data analysis and evaluation. At the end of this study, we will be dicussing on the proposed improvements that are suitable to overcome challenges and factors for better implementation of land developement in Gerik.
