Hussein, Ahmad Kamil I’zzuddin HD61 Risk Management A car park is a square area or a planned and orderly designed space for vehicle parking. Due to the continuous increase in the number of vehicles year after year, in strata housing in Malaysia, particularly in low-cost strata housing, a shortage of well-organized car parks is common, thus inviting various related issues and bringing about an unpleasant sight to the housing area. To address and alleviate this problem, this study aims at identifying the suitability of car park design in a strata housing as well as additional car park proposals that will be used as joint property or as accessory parcels. To this end, several objectives have been established namely investigating the problems of car parks in a strata housing, reviewing and proposing the suitability of car park design, and proposing additional car park facilities to be used as common property or as accessory parcels. The study used a quantitative research method by distributing a questionnaire among homeowners in the study area as well as a qualitative research method by interviewing relevant parties and agencies to determine the potential and suitability of the proposed additional car parks as an accessory parcels or common property. The results show that the ideal design for a car park in strata housing is a 90 degree-angle car park as it produces the optimum number of parking space. The findings of the study also indicate that the concept of common property is more appropriate to practice for the proposed additional car park. In addition, the use of appropriate types of additional car park technology such as rotary parking should be explored to provide new space for occupants so that the problem of parking shortage can be minimized. 2019 Thesis http://eprints.utm.my/id/eprint/98396/ http://eprints.utm.my/id/eprint/98396/1/AhmadKamilI%20zzuddinMohdHusseinMABU2019.pdf.pdf application/pdf en public http://dms.library.utm.my:8080/vital/access/manager/Repository/vital:144579 masters Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Faculty of Built Environment & Surveying |
