Summary:This research was carried out in the form of a case study in a private university with quantitative method which employed questionnaires as the main instrument. The research was to understand the relationship between employee engagement, job satisfaction, self-efficacy and workplace environment and performance among academicians in private university in Selangor. This research paper intends to examine the factors that affecting Malaysian Private University as job performance of academicians is one of the main criteria in determining a university’s QS World University Ranking. Hence, this research aims to determine the role of academicians in improving job performance as few studies in the past have focused on academicians in private universities. This research paper enables parties such as the Ministry of Higher Education and management of universities to pinpoint the core areas that need improvement and take corrective actions to improve job performance of academicians in private university. Besides that, this research also increases self-awareness of academicians towards their job performance. Herzberg Two-Factor theory and Self-Determination theory were adopted for this research as it is deemed the most appropriate in the context of this research. Questionnaires has been distributed to 202 academicians in Private University, in Selangor via e-mail or walk-in. Findings of the research revealed that only three (3) out of four (4) variables are having significant relationship with the performance among the academicians. The recommendation for the related discussions and future research were also discussed.
