Description
Summary:Personal adjustment among teacher trainees is important in determining the sustainability of their career as a teacher. Intervention strategies are needed in order to help the process of their adjustment. The existing strategies had given less emphasis on the spiritual aspects and intrapersonal processes of the individual. Therefore, Quranic Soul (QS) intervention module which based on two approaches namely Al-Ghazali and Psychoanalysis theory is introduced to determine its effect on the adjustment of teacher trainees. The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of Quranic Soul (QS) Intervention towards personal adjustment among teacher trainees in Institute of Teacher Education, the Ministry of education (IPG KPM). This quasi-experimental study used 2X2 factorial design. The sample consists of 64 teacher trainees with medium-low level of personal adjustment. Subjects are divided into two namely treatment group and control group. Data was collected by using Student Adaptation College Questionnaire (SACQ) as well as QS Effectiveness Intervention. Data analyses were performed via MANOVA, ANOVA, Pearson Correlation method and t-tests. The findings indicate significant improvement in the aspect of personal adjustment for treatment group. However, there is no significant difference for both groups in terms of gender. Other dimensions of personal adjustment that showed non-significant results are include academic, social, personal, emotional and goal commitment between treatment group and control group. Dimension of social adjustment was shown to be correlated positively with academic and personal emotional adjustment. The primary implication of the study showed that QS intervention could enhance the effectiveness towards personal adjustment of teacher trainees in IPG KPM.
