Description
Summary:Concerns regarding agricultural product scandals, price volatility, authenticity, demand, and supply imbalances, among other reasons, most organizations pay attention to upgrading the existing supply chain. Bangladesh's current rice supply chain is less transparent and traceable, and market prices are unstable. Improving the current rice supply chain system needs new technology adoption. Blockchain technology is now widely used in various industries, including the supply chain. However, in Bangladesh, blockchain technology is still in its early stage. Hence, the Bangladesh rice supply chain industry should use blockchain to maintain a stabilized market system, fair price, transparency, traceability, cost reduction, strong monitoring capability, and overall efficiency. The objectives of this study were to identify the issues of traceability and transparency, as well as the barriers to adopting blockchain technology in the rice supply chain management system in Bangladesh. Additionally, this study developed a framework and verified the implementation feasibility of the blockchain technology in Bangladesh to ensure the sustainability and efficiency of rice supply chain management. The purposive sampling strategy was utilized with a combination of the qualitative approach. With the semi-structured interview, this research investigated the current rice supply chain issues, as well as blockchain adoption obstacles and implementation feasibility. This research uses the systematic literature review with the content analysis approach. Meanwhile, Hahn’s data analysis model was used for the data analysis. The findings of this study recommended that the blockchain-based supply chain framework is significant and could help rice supply chain management sustain transparency, and traceability, improve accurate information flow and enhance overall supply chain efficiency. Future research is encouraged to study the framework and validate it not only in the rice sector but also in other agricultural sectors
