Summary:Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play an important role in the Malaysian economy. This study focuses on the effect of financial management on the profitability of SMEs in the Sik District, which have several advantages and contributions to the economic and social of the population, especially to the local community such as the provision of employment opportunities, the maximum use of the workforce, the provision of infrastructure and a good level of technology in ensuring the ease with which business activities are carried out. In this study as well, a total of 161 data were collected through questionnaires obtained directly. Specifically, there are five independent variables that represent financial management, namely financial reporting and analysis, cash management, inventory management, receivables management and financial planning. A total of five hypotheses have been developed in this study of SMEs in Sik District. By using the measurement tools suggested in the previous studies , a statistical analysis technique using data examination procedures and structural model evaluation has been conducted. Results show a significant relationship between financial reporting and analysis, inventory management and financial planning with the profitability of SMEs in Sik District. Based on the result, this study suggested that SMEs in Sik District need to increase their knowledge, skills, involvement and attention to the financial management of their businesses so that efficient financial management can be implemented in an effort to increase the profitability of their enterprise. In addition, the local authorities responsible for the development of SMEs in Sik District can assist them in using technology and funds to improve the efficiency of financial management. Next, the research of this study can also contribute to the body of knowledge and the development of existing SME entrepreneurs and the Small and Medium Enterprises literature in Sik District and Malaysia.
