In general, takaful services are not fully accepted and subscribed by the Islamic community themselves due to the lack of awareness of takaful roles in their lives and their economy eventhough the takaful services (products) are known to be managed and operated on Islamic principles. In takaful, transactions and services emphases on justice, transparency and mutual cooperation among the participants. Other factors that contribute to the community not subscribing are insufficient understanding, less disposal income for additional savings and expediture for takaful, stiff competition and product innovation from the conventional companies and many other related factors. The main objective of the study is to gain information why Malaysian community especially from the Islamic community is not fully participating in takaful or not subscribing takaful for their insurance needs. In the study, 87 respondents from UUM staff were obtained. Frequencies distribution, descriptive statistics and ANOVA test analyses were done to achieve the study objectives. From the study, the re is less participation from UUM staff for takaful compared to conventional insurance.
