Summary:The purpose of this research was to study the status of implementation of MS IS0 9000 in the Veterinary Services Department. This descriptive and exploratory study determined the implementation status of MS IS0 9000, the attitude of the Veterinary Officers towards MS IS0 9000, communication on MS IS0 9000 and the skills of the Veterinary Officers in managing change. The study was based on the Force Field Model by Lewin had also determined the co-relation between the implementation of MS IS0 9000 and managing change in MS IS0 9000, attitude towards MS IS0 9000, communication on MS IS0 9000 and the skill in managing change. The subjects were 98 Veterinary Officers who were randomly selected from the whole of peninsular Malaysia. Data was obtained through questionnaires sent by post to the respondents. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistic, co-relation analysis for the hypothesis testing and ANOVA for the difference in the means for the different groups. This study indicated that only managing change in MS IS0 9000 and communication on MS IS0 9000 were significantly related to the implementation of the status of MS IS0 9000. Attitude towards MS IS0 9000 and the skill in managing change were significantly related to the communication on MS IS0 9000 and managing change in MS IS0 9000. Only those with less than 5 years working experience had significant difference in means for having the skills in managing change. Respondents exhibited a very satisfactory attitude towards MS IS0 9000. Communication on MS IS0 9000 and the skills in managing change were at very satisfactory level too. Respondents perceived that managing change in MS IS0 9000 by the top management was satisfactory. There were no apparent weaknesses of Veterinary Officers in managing change. In conclusion, the implementation of MS IS0 9000 was still being carried out at the Veterinary Services Department. These findings may help the top management in managing change in the implementation of MS IS0 9000 and maintaining it in the department.
