Summary:This research study discuss about the Islamic education policy in Brunei Darussalam during the reign of Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien 111 and Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (from the period 1950 to 2007). The basis of study will systematically identify the enforcement and distinction of the policy set up during the reign of Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien III and Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. It will also recognize the extent of the problems, accomplishments as well as achievements of the policy, especially during both eras. The ta'dib concept which comprised of 'illm, Ta'lim and Tarbiyah put forward by Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas will be used as measurement in leading this research study in order to ensure whether the actions, differences and achievements of Islamic education policy exist or not in Brunei especially during those periods. The research is a field work study and data is obtained from various sources such from interviews, department and government data, official government files, and other related documents. The study shows a connection and similarity in the aspect its purpose and aim of its policy. In other words, the results show that the concept of 'illm, Ta'lim and Tarbiyah were implemented during the period qf 1956 to 2007. Nonetheless, there are significant differences especially from the aspect of human development, financial allocation, infrastructure, curriculum, management and administration. These differences arise due to the present needs and circumstance whereby the government strived to pursue and enhance the quality of Islamic education especially during the reign of Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. Several achievements and developments can be observed from the outcome of this study in the implementation policy which emphasizes on the concept of' 'illm, Ta'lim and Tarbiyah as found relevant in the present globalize era. The implementation of the lslamic education policy in Brunei Darussalam during both governing era has indirectly contribute to realization and enforcement of its philosophy Malay Islamic Monarchy especially in nation building as a whole.
