Summary:The aim of the study on cases of Absent Without Leave (AWOL) is to explore a perception of factors that influence an increasing phenomena of AWOL cases among Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) personnel today. This study also touch on the aspect of MAF welfare policy and whether or not it implicates the THTC cases and the effectiveness of the current military law and order to curb the increasing number of AWOL cases. A structured questionnaire and a personal interview session has been carried out to 30 personnel in Provost Martial Division (PMD), Malaysian Armed Forces Headquarters (MAF HQ), Ministry of Defence, as a method of collecting data. The result has shown the existence of critical factors that influenced the MAF personnel to commit AWOL. Those factors comprise of services factor, management factor and human factor. Several suggestions have been made to be considered by all level of management in MAF organization as an effort to curb the rise cases of AWOL among MAF personnel.
