Factors studied were attitude, interest, commitment, instructors' influence, academic background and trainees' experience prior to joining the RMN. Academic achievement was measured using the results obtained during the final semester examinations in June 2001. The samples for this study consisted of 191 trainees of intake 180 to 184. The data obtained were statistically analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple regression techniques. The findings of this study indicate that: (a) there was no "statistically significant" correlation between the trainees' attitude and their achievement; (b) there was a "statistically significant" correlation between the trainees' interest and their achievement; (c) there was a "statistically significant" correlation between the trainees' commitment and their achievement; (d) there was no "statistically significant" correlation between the instructors' influence and the trainees' achievement; (e) there was a "statistically significant" correlation between the trainees' academic background and their achievement; (f) there was a "statistically significant" correlation between the trainees' experience prior joining RMN and their achievement; and (g) 20% of the variance in academic achievement could be explained by factors such as attitude, interest, commitment, instructors' influence, academic background and trainees' experience.
