Description
Summary:This study is a theoretical debate on corporate entrepreneurship (CE) in the state government higher education institutions (HEIs) in Pakistan with a generally accepted conceptual model. The objective of the study is to measure the mediation effect of corporate entrepreneurship (CE) on the relationship between the structural, managerial, cultural, environmental factors and performance. The inferential statistic was used in order to achieve the objective of this study. Pearson correlation was used to see the association between the independent and dependent variables. It showed the strength and direction of the relationship. A regression test was done to identify the predictive ability of each independent variable towards the organizational performance and the power of mediation effect of corporate entrepreneurship on the said relationship. The respondents were 225 faculty deans out of 674 identified in the study. The findings indicate that managerial, cultural and environmental factors predict the performance, while the full mediation effect of corporate entrepreneurship was found on the relationship between managerial factor and performance. On the other hand, the mediating effect was partial on the relationships between cultural and environmental factors and performance. The finding of this study ultimately enhances the field of CE which focuses on improving the performance of the HEIs in Pakistan. The study recommends that the state government higher education institutions in Pakistan need to allow room for entrepreneurial activities, develop entrepreneurial principles and opportunities, and encourage entrepreneurial practices through the development of public entrepreneurial orientation and activities to bring positive effect to organizational performance. In addition, the state government HEIs in Pakistan should pay attention to overcoming organizational challenges related to building entrepreneurial capacities.
