Summary:The purpose of this study is to identify whether there is significant correlation between students, school, parents and community factors with the effectiveness of student discipline management. The informations about student discipline management were also collected. The informations collected included discipline teachers’ demography, discipline control approach and the problems faced by discipline teachers. Extracurricular activities that can help improve students’ discipline and the discipline teachers’ perspective about their duties were also studied. About 54 discipline teachers from 14 schools in Kubang Pasu and Kota Setar District were involved in this study. The systematic sampling were used to choose the samples. The pilot study for the questionaire show the reliability coefficients Alpha Cronbach 0.9352. The Statistical Packages For The Social Sciences (SPSS) Edition 7.5 were utilised to analyse the data. Correlation test shows there is significant and positive relationship between the students, school, parents and community factors and the effectiveness of student discipline management. The study indicated that students, school, parents and community factors are not barriers to improve the effectiveness of student discipline management. However, some negative answers from the questionaire show that discipline teachers face a few problems with their duties. School factors has the strongest relation with the effectiveness of student discipline management followed by parents, community and students factors. The study also found that active role played by principals, coherent actions, caning and good relation between school and parents or communities can minimize students’ misbehaviour. The major problems faced by discipline teachers are stubborn students, overloaded duties and lack of time to run their duties. Although the duties are hard, majority of discipline the teachers feel happy, satisfied and secure with their job as a discipline teacher.
