Keberkesanan Teknik Scaffolding Secara Berkumpulan Terhadap Pendidikan Sirah
description The effective teaching and learning approaches (P&P) selection is one of the main factors influencing the level of student mastery of certain subjects. Selecting suitable teaching approaches and activities are able to attract students' interest in obtaining a deep understanding of the lesson being taught by teachers in the classroom. This in turn will create a harmonious learning environment. Thus, this qualitative study intends to examine the effectiveness of teaching through group scaffolding techniques to attract and influence student achievement in Pendidikan Sirah. The study involved the participation of 12 form four students from a cluster schools in the state of Perlis as participants. Data were collected through a combination of observation techniques (through assignments, tests and student involvement in activities during the learning and teaching process) and in-depth interviews. The analysis was done to compare the findings before and after the group scaffolding technique is performed in classroom. The data are described in the form of discussions and observations. The study found differences in terms of grades and involvement of students before and after the use of group scaffolding techniques. After the group scaffolding techniques were implemented, participants seemed not only more active (questioning) during the learning process but also were able to fill in the matrix table and produced a good mind map without referring to the reference materials. They were also able to answer given quiz questions with a satisfactory performance. The study found that group scaffolding techniques has succeeded in creating a more enjoyable learning environment, improving students’ concentration, enhance students' understanding of the topic, increase student achievement and enabling learning objectives to be achieved. It is recommended for group lessons using scaffolding techniques to run for a longer period. It is also necessary to hold workshops on 'social skills' for students who participated in the study group and the future study must also involve experienced teachers.
