Description
Summary:The aim of this study is to investigate the perception level of principals toward planning, effective management, assesment, organizational environment, self-satisfaction and differences of demography aspects among the principals of secondary schools in Sarawak. The findings revealed that there was a significant relation at low level between all the five factors in term of age. The difference between leadership factors in term of gender and school locations also demonstrated an extreme low level of significance for factors such as planning, effective management, assessment and satisfaction with the exception of organizational environment. There was a difference in the aspect of planning for principals in grade A school and grade B school, with P value equivalents to 0.008. Other factors such as effective management, assesment, organizational environment and satisfaction; each has shown no difference with the P equivalent to 0.081, 0.126, 0.182 and 0.853 respectively. As for experience in service and profesional course, all the five factors showed significant differences among them. Finally, it has been found that the difference in terms of qualification gives a significant principals should organize beneficial activities to enhance the effectiveness of various enviroment and self-satisfaction. It is also suggested that there is a need for the Sarawak Department of Education to expose the principals with course related to effective leaderships. This will in turn enable them to recognize their strenghts and weaknesses in the kind of leadership they are currently practicing and will therefore make improvement where necessary.
