總結:In recent years, research on older persons is increasingly recognized as an important domain of research among academia in Indonesia. Although research on older persons is increasingly recognized, research on the quality of life itself is still relatively unexamined. Quality of life is basically a level of individual satisfaction on the various aspects of his life. Untill recently a lot of older persons in Indonesia has been neglected as the failure of those responsible to provide necessary support and care, leading the quality of life of older persons varies. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of quality of life of older persons in the district of Kota Batu, Jawa Timur, Indonesia, as well as to measure the factors behind their quality of lives. To achive this objective, three villages, i.e Gunungsari, Mojorejo and Sumberrejo were selected as the study area. A total of 322 elderly persons aged 60 years and older were solicited as respondents through simple random sampling from a population of 2 036 elderly. Data were gathered through structured interviews, and analyzed using multiple linear regression containing nine independent variables. Results of the study show the majority of the respondents have a moderate level of quality of life, and three out of nine variables, namely recreational activity, instrumental support, and number of dependents, have a significant influence on the variation of the level of quality of life of older persons in the study area. On the whole, most of older persons have a moderate level of quality of life, and recreational activity has been the strongest influence on the variation of the level of quality of life, followed by instrumental support, and number of dependents. The implication of this study to older persons is that support from children and other family members are extremely important to improve the quality of life of older persons.
