Description
Summary:This study aims to observe the implementation and effectiveness of using the cooperative learning in teaching communicative arabic language for year 4, 5 and 6. The study is to examine the needs to use cooperative learning to motivate the students in learning and to enhance the students' achievement. The respondents in this study were 120 students and 6 teachers from Sekolah Kebangsaan Dato Wan Mohd Saman, Tandop Alor Setar and an officer in Kedah Education Department. The data collected were analysed through observation. The observation instrument was adapted &om the observation form used by the Ministry of Education. Triangulation method was used through the interview, observation and document analysis. The information from various sources were gathered to support the findings. The result showed that the teachers have used the cooperative method of learning as their teaching strategy subject to the content of the lesson and the preparation. The study also showed the effectiveness of implementing the cooperative learning. However, due to constraint of teaching time which is two periods a week, this strategy is a bit cumbersome to be implemented. The implication of this research pointed out that teachers are encouraged to be more creative in implementing this strategy with well-planned 1esson.The introduction of a 5 period-a-week for Arabic Language for j-QAF cohort 2009 would hopefully entice the implementation of this method in order to enhance the level of effectiveness and students' interest. It is hoped that the additional period could be expanded to all schools and further research could be implemented in the area of research
