The purpose of this study was to determine the attitudes of teachers of Smart Schools toward the use of computer in their teaching and administrative work. Sample used in this study consisted of teachers of Smart School in the state of Kedah and Perlis. The Eight Smart Schools of both states are among the 86 Smart Schools that were selected by the Ministry of Education of Malaysia in the Smart School Pilot Project. Three sub-scales for computer attitudes were used in this study. They were computer anxiety, computer confidence and computer liking. A sub-scale for professional use of computer was also used in this study. Analysis of the data indicated the attitudes of teachers of Smart School toward computer were moderate. The study also demonstrated that there was significant difference in attitudes toward computer between male
and female teachers, Male teachers showed more positive attitudes toward computer than that shown by female teachers. The study also showed that there was no significant difference between attitudes of teachers teaching the four different subjects, namely Malay Language, English Language, Mathematics and Science. The study indicated that positive but moderate use of computers in teaching and administrative work could be influenced by the positive but moderate attitudes toward computer.
