Description
Summary:The purpose of this study is to have an insight of the mosque management role in inculcating good moral. The location of study was Taiping, Perak. The factors studied were demographic factor and mosque management factor as the independent variables in relation to the effort of inculcating good moral of the society as the dependent variable. The mosque management factor were divided into four subjects; Friday sermon, religious talk, fardhu ‘ain class and al-Qur’an studies class. A total of 60 committee members from 4 mosques and 1 ‘surau’ were involved in this study. All the questionnaires distributed were returned completely. The questionnaires consist of a total of 40 items; 7 items on Friday sermon management, 7 items on religious talk management, 7 items on fardhu ‘ain class management, 7 items on al-Qur’an studies class management and lastly 12 items on good moral inculcation. Descriptive statistics was used ranging from percentage, mean, median, range of scores and standard deviation to analyse the data and the distribution of studied variables score. Hypotheses testing was done using; Chi-Square Test in order to determine the effect of demographic factor on mosque management, t-test in order to analyse if there was any differences, Pearson Correlation Test in order to test whether there was a relationship between the independent variables and the dependent variable and finally Linear Regression to determine the most significant effect of independent variables to the dependent variable. The results of the study proved that mosque management was significantly related to good moral inculcation. The Chi-Square Test indicated that one of the demographic items, i.e age had an influence over mosque management. On the other hand, duration of service did not have any influence over mosque management. The t-test did not indicate any differences in perceptions towards mosque management in relation to the appointment of mosque committee members either it was being agreed or being disagreed upon. The Correlation Test pointed that independent variables were very significantly related to good moral inculcation. The Linear Regression Test indicated that the most significant factor that affected good moral inculcation was al-Qur’an studies class management. The findings of this study would be helpful in providing information, specifically to the Perak Islamic Religious Affair Department and to the Muslim society in general, for better planning and organizing of programmes effectively towards a more developed and morally-balanced nation.
