Description
Summary:Work stress and job satisfaction have been reported to affect work performance among nurses, thereby affecting treatment services and placing patient life at risk. Work stress is a complex phenomenon that results from interactions between individuals and the environment. Therefore, this study is conducted to identify the influence of work stress and job satisfaction on job performance among nurses at Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah, Alor Setar. The design of this study was a set of questionnaire consisting of 160 nurses as samples, completed with Nurse Stress Index, Job Satisfaction Survey, and Six Dimensions Job Performance Scale. The data obtained are analyzed in descriptive and inferential statistics using Statistical Packages for Social Science (SPSS) Version 25. In this study, Pearson correlation test shows that there is no significant correlation between work stress and work performance with the correlation value of 0.119 (p> .05), while the relationship between job satisfaction and work performance shows that there is a significant positive relationship when the correlation value of 0.385 (p <.01). Regression test shows that both independent variables significantly affect 16.4 percent variance on job performance. Some suggestions have been proposed for this study in order to address the influence of stress and job satisfaction on work performance. Among the suggestions that can be applied in future research are identifying factors that affect work performance and creating a good working environment in addition to prioritizing employee welfare.
