The world is moving towards a dynamic global economy. Therefore, many organizations implement the Quality Management System (QMS) to enhance their competitiveness. However, existing QMS models are mostly based on conventional perspectives. Therefore, it is necessary to study the QMS according to the Islamic perspective. Hence, this study was conducted to achieve three main objectives. The first was to develop Islamic Quality Management System (IQMS) models. The second was to develop IQMS instruments. The third was to test and validate the instruments. The research methodology used was qualitative design for the first phase focusing on the development of IQMS models. This study also used qualitative and quantitative designs in the second and third phases, which included the development of constructs, dimensions and items. Subsequently, a pilot study and the actual study were conducted to validate the instruments. Phase I identified three basic forms of IQMS models: Islamic philosophy, theory of the Islamization of knowledge, and basic principles in fiqh muamalat. Phase 2 identified three IQMS constructs: Hablun minallah, Hablun minannas and Hablun minal'alam. A total of 335 items were produced based on literature review and interviews with experts. However, a total of 10 items were dropped from the list of initial items. In Phase 3, actual studies were conducted based on the 325 items involving 33 Islamic-based organizations in the West Java Province of Indonesia. The data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS software. At this stage, I item was removed and only 324 items were maintained The findings resulted in a model and instruments that had been developed and validated through Factor Analysis to determine the unidimensional constructs. The research, in short, proved that these unidimensional constructs are validated as true factors for measuring the implementation of IQMS in an organization. 2018 Thesis https://etd.uum.edu.my/8437/ https://etd.uum.edu.my/8437/1/s94796_01.pdf text eng 2021-10-31 public https://etd.uum.edu.my/8437/2/s94796_02.pdf text eng public https://etd.uum.edu.my/8437/3/s94796%20references.docx text eng public other doctoral Universiti Utara Malaysia
