Description
Summary:In the recent survey done by the local university on the rate of adoption of cloud storage is low. For this reason, there was a need to explore and investigate the actual issues that influence the adoption of Cloud Storage, and to examine the effect of different dimensions (i.e. the acceptance, innovation, technological, organizational and environmental) on the adoption of Cloud Storage in Universiti Utara Malaysia. The main objective of the study is to explore the factors that affect the adoption of Cloud Storage in Universiti Utara Malaysia students. For that purpose, this study employed theories of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Technology Organization and Environment (TOE) and Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) theory to synchronize the possible relationships among the variable in the conceptual framework. The study used a quantitative approach. The data collection started quantitative study that was conducted among 194 respondents using self administered questionnaires. Moreover, the findings of the quantitative study indicated that the adoption of Cloud Storage was significantly influenced by Compatibility and Perceived Usefulness, while Complexity and Trialability does not influence adoption of cloud storage among Universiti Utara Malaysia students. Moreover, a comprehensive and holistic model based on the TOE, TAM and DOI was presented. In the case of natural disaster, facilities of universities will be impacted. The use of cloud storage services as a backup able to restore data and the operation of universities will be able to restart without any trouble. In addition, students, researchers or lecturers may access their data, use online services or undertake any online research using SaaS services conveniently from anywhere. Moreover, by properly educating university students, the skills to deal with innovative SaaS technology will be reflected at their future workplace.
