Summary: | The research investigates the relationship between hybrid strategy and organisational learning on organisational performance of five-star hotels in Malaysia. This research specifically considers the hybrid strategy (business strategy) as an independent variable and organisational learning (functional strategy) as the mediating variable as well as their implications on the organisational performance. The dynamic capabilities and resources-based views are used to underpin the strategies elaborated in the theoretical framework. From the total of 104 questionnaires distributed to the top-rank and middle-rank managers of five-star hotels in Malaysia, 60 responses were validated with the response rate of 58 percent. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25 by Macro V3-0 was used to analyse the data collected. The findings
reveal that the hybrid strategy and organisational learning are positively related to organisational performance. The study also introduces new perspectives and expands the effectiveness of the existing theories by offering the holistic insight of the strategies
used in the strategic management theories. In addition, this study delivers an important message to hoteliers to be more proactive in the current business environment. It is achievable through voluntarily transforming themselves and their hotels as learning
organisation by implementing the hybrid strategy to stay competitive. |
