Challenges and changes in the education system require principals and teachers to adopt more creative and innovative leadership and behavioural practices for the success of the country’s educational agenda. Innovative behaviours are aimed to initiate new ideas and beneficial ideals in terms of processes, services, products and procedures. However, innovative behaviours among teachers are difficult to determine. Acceptance of innovation is a slow process and involves many factors. This study first aimed was to identify the relationship and influence of transformational leadership towards innovative behaviour in schools. Secondly to further examine the relationship between leadership style and innovative behaviour, the school organization climate was introduced as an mediating variable. The quantitative study had administered Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ), Organizational Health Inventory-Secondary (OHI-S) and Innovative Behaviour Instrument (IBI). The data were analyzed using ANOVA statistics, t-test, multiple regression analysis and hierarchical regression analysis using Statistic Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20. The findings showed that transformational leadership and teacher’s innovative behaviour were at high level while the school organization climates are at moderate and low level. Research also shows that there was no significant difference in transformational leadership, school organization climate and teacher's innovative behaviours based on gender, age and teacher service experience. However, there were significant differences in teachers' innovative behaviour based on the age of teachers in school. The study also indicated that there was a significant relationship between the three variables. While the aspects of transformational leadership and the climate of the school organization had an influence on the teacher's innovative behaviours. In addition, the findings revealed that the school organization climate served as a mediator to the relationship between transformational leadership and innovative behaviours.
