Description
Summary:The purpose of this project is to study the requirements analysis on the wireless infrastructure network in Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) concentrating on the student colleges which include the techonology that is required for wireless network infrastructure student community and essential applications for the student to get access onto the network and finally the financial comparison with the wired network. Investigation into Wireless LAN Technology in the university have been taking place several years ago. Communications networks are core infrastructure for higher education, providing an essential fouundation for all electronic teaching, research, library and administrative services. With the advanced communication tools introduced into the market place, demand from the intellectuals and the challenge into digital edge, the university administration has to introduce the Wireless LAN technology for the campus life as an alternative of the wired network that currently available. From the analysis that has been done, the implementation of wireless network at residential student college in Universiti Utara Malaysia is good start, because the cost that required for the wireless network is lower and it takes a shorter time for installation of infrastructure compared to wired network. Besides, it provides a network system for the students in the residential college as a whole.
