A total of 237 second semester (final) teacher trainees specializing in primary and secondary school in Kent College Teachers Training, Tuaran for the 2003 academic year, involved in this study. The research tool used was in the form of questionnaire that contained 42 questions. To test the reliability of the instrument, a pilot test was conducted and the data analysis yielded a reliability value that was statistically acceptable. A descriptive analysis of research design was used to describe what motivate teacher trainees in selecting teaching as a profession and their most prominent motives for entering teacher training. To test whether motives for choosing teaching profession as a career differ between genders, T-test was used. The analysis exposed that there were no significant differences between gender and career choice. One way ANOVA was also used to test if there were significant differences between ethnicity and career choice. The result obtained showed no significant differences between ethnicity and career choice. The findings of the study have several implications on the selection of Post Graduate teacher trainees. Therefore, several recommendations were suggested for this study and future research. 2003-12 Thesis https://etd.uum.edu.my/973/ https://etd.uum.edu.my/973/1/ELNIE_JOHAYA.pdf application/pdf eng validuser masters masters Universiti Utara Malaysia
