Description
Summary:Previous studies were found to have not discussed the determination of the competency criteria of successful School Cooperative Board members. This study argues that if there is a successful model of a successful School Cooperative Board member, it can be used as a guide to the less successful School Cooperative Board Member. Therefore, the objectives of this study are to identify the competence criteria of the competent School Cooperative Board members and to determine the criteria of competency model of the School Cooperative Board members. At the same time, this study also attempts to develop a successful model of the Cooperative Board of School Members. The sample of this study involved two parties, namely the School Cooperative Board member of 60 respondents and not a member of the School Cooperative Board of 905 respondents. Samples are taken from four high schools in Malaysia which have special privileges ie successful income earning in cooperative business. In addition, selected schools are based on the criteria for multi-ethnic daily schooling (Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Gombak Setia); the most successful and most prominent secondary school (Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kota); secondary schools representing the rural and multi-ethnic or ethnic groups (Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bintulu); and full boarding schools that operate on learning and out-ofschool time (Maktab Rendah Sains MARA Kepala Batas). To determine the competency criteria of successful School Cooperative Board members, the study uses the Pearson correlation analysis. The findings show that 12 out of 15 criteria show high correlation between each other to form competency model criteria namely staff, knowledge, experience, skills, personality, leadership, trust, good deeds, dreams, strategies, achievements and consistency. Hence, the findings of this study have the potential to be an input to the improvement of the competence of the School Cooperative Board members in the future.
