Kaedah kualitatif dan reka bentuk kajian etnografi diaplikasikan dalam kajian ini.</p><p>Proses pengutipan data melibatkan tujuh buah majlis perkahwinan di kampung-kampung</p><p>di pinggir bandar raya Ipoh dan tiga buah hotel di sekitar bandar raya Ipoh. Peralatan audio</p><p>video digunakan bagi merakam tingkah laku haptik, proksemiks dan kronemik bersamasama</p><p>catatan lapangan yang dibuat dalam tempoh empat bulan melibatkan lebih 90 jam</p><p>kajian lapangan. Temu bual bersama 15 orang responden yang terdiri daripada individu</p><p>yang mahir menguruskan perkahwinan dan sering menghadiri majlis perkahwinan turut</p><p>diadakan. Selain itu, dua orang jurugambar perkahwinan dan dua orang perancang</p><p>perkahwinan berpengalaman turut ditemu bual bagi mendapatkan maklumat dan</p><p>pengesahan data lapangan dibuat oleh pakar bidang. Data yang diperoleh dikod dan</p><p>dianotasi secara tematik manakala analisis dapatan dibincangkan dalam bentuk naratif</p><p>mengikut tema. Dapatan kajian ini menunjukkan bahawa penggunaan haptik, proksemiks</p><p>dan kronemiks terangkum dalam adat masyarakat Melayu manakala adab dan pegangan</p><p>Islam menjadi elemen penting apabila berkomunikasi secara haptik, proksemiks dan</p><p>kronemiks. Hal ini menggambarkan kepentingan menjaga keharmonian serta mewujudkan</p><p>keselesaan, penghormatan, dan petunjuk kepada status dan kedudukan. Didapati</p><p>globalisasi dan pengaruh media turut mempengaruhi gaya hidup masyarakat Melayu</p><p>namun kesannya tidak ketara. Ini menunjukkan bahawa jati diri bangsa Melayu masih</p><p>kekal utuh bersandarkan kepada Islam dengan adat bersendi syarak, syarak bersendi</p><p>kitabullah. Kajian ini dapat menyumbang kepada pemahaman dan ilmu berkaitan haptik,</p><p>proksemiks dan kronemik dan boleh dikembangkan serta diperincikan kepada pelbagai</p><p>aspek lain yang masih belum diterokai.</p>
