<p>This study examines the issue of domestic violence against women in Malaysia,</p><p>utilising Leo Tolstoy's theory as a foundational reference. It incorporates Bertolt</p><p>Brecht's V-effect techniques to encourage critical thinking about domestic violence.</p><p>By integrating these two distinct approaches, the researcher aims to evoke emotions</p><p>and facilitate scrutiny and critique of domestic violence issues. The study uses</p><p>qualitative methods to collect primary data through interviews, surveys, participant</p><p>observations, focus group discussions, movie reels, and questionnaires. Secondary</p><p>data sources such as articles, journal books, and previously published data are also</p><p>utilised. The study's primary objective is to provide participants with an immersive</p><p>experience of domestic violence situations, particularly in phase 1, known as "The</p><p>Experience." In this phase, participants are exposed to real domestic problems to</p><p>evoke their emotions and feelings regarding domestic violence. Phase 2, known as</p><p>The Engagement, involves interactions between the actors and participants, allowing</p><p>the researchers to observe participants' reactions based on their experiences in Phase 1.</p><p>In Phase 3, known as The Reflection, the study analyses participants' thought</p><p>processes and responses to domestic violence issues after completing phases 1 and 2.</p><p>Consequently, the study finds that participants who undergo all three performance</p><p>phases gain a deeper understanding of domestic violence issues and exhibit increased</p><p>awareness. The participants' feedback is overwhelmingly positive. This study raises</p><p>awareness within the community regarding the severity of domestic violence,</p><p>empowering individuals to assess and respond appropriately if they encounter such</p><p>situations.</p> |
