Description
Summary:The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate the use of Simulation Through Weblog (SMW) in learning the topic of Movement of Substances Across the Plasma Membrane on the students achievement and interest. This study involved 60 students from a residential school in Perak which were divided into two groups. The treated group learned the topic of Movement of Substances Across the Plasma Membrane through the SMW while the control group learned the topic by the common method. The instruments used in this study were the pre test, post test and questionnaires for interest. The hypothesis test involved the use of the ANCOVA test and the Pearson correlation test. Result showed that there was no significant differences (p = .117) in the mean of the post test score between the treated group and the control group. There was also no significant difference (p = .859) in the mean of the post test score between the male and female students in the treated group. Yet there was significant difference (p = .009) between the students interest in biology subject and the mean of the post test score among all the students. Pearsons correlation test showed that there was negative significant correlation (r = -.504) between the students interest in biology subject and the mean of the post test score among all the students. Besides, the result showed that the students interest in the topic of Movement of Substances Across the Plasma Membrane was very high (78.1%). The same result was shown in the use of SMW in learning (89.93%).
