Summary:Major reason for this research being conducted was to identify pupils weaknesses in constructing essays, hence provide the alternative to improve the quality of essay writing of the Year 5 pupils. This research was based on quantitative method utilizing questionnaires and evaluation on essays. Essays were constructed in narrative form of given titles and tested in two sets; pre and post. 36 year 5 pupils chosen from a suburb government school in Tanjong Malim, Perak were made sample. Research were narrowed to techniques of writing using 6 interrogative pronounces namely : what, where, when, who, why and how. Reviewed literatures were also incurred to explain further of this matter. The instrument used in this research was a set of questionnaires divided into 3 sections. Section A reflected on the respondents background, section B comprised the basic knowledge of composing and section 3 contained the information of respondents capabilities of constructing essays. Data will be analysed using SPSS 17 and be presented in the form of frequency, percentage and mean. Comparison of performance between both test will also be looked at to view the extension of interrogative pronounce approach in helping these sampled pupils in producing a good and quality essay. It is by the researchers desire to have tie findings of research, enhance the writing of essay and pupils attainment in BM(P) subject, thus gain excellence Bahasa Melayu for the school, particularly UPSR.
