Description
Summary:This study aims to identify the nobel values in the Moral Education syllabus of the Primary School Standard Cuniculum (KSSR) found in the lyrics of the songs of Kannadasan; to build concepts for the 14 nobel values of the KSSR Moral Education Syllabus; to analyse the similarities found both in the research materials and to identify additional moral values found in the lyrics ofKannadasan's songs. The study has adopted the qualitative method, in doing literary reviews and text analysis and also in using the theories of Precious Human Theory by Thomas Licona and Child Development Theories of Lawrence Kohlberg , Jean Piaget, Sigmund Freud, dan Erik Erikson to study the 326 selected songs written by Kannadasan. The findings show that all the 14 nobel values of the KSSR Moral Education Syllabus are found in the selected lyrics. The study has conceptualised the 14 nobel values of the KSSR Moral Education Syllabus clearly and precisely. Apart from the usual nobel values additional nobel values, i.e karpu (chastity), kollamai (non-violence) and vinai kolgai (karma) have been 1dentified. These three additional moral values and concepts of morality constructed in this study can be included in the future reviews of the Moral Education Syllabus by the Ministry of Education. The lyrics of Kannadasan songs can also be used to build a noble personality in a human being and useful citizen.
