Pemilihan 365 orang responden kajianberdasarkan Krejcie dan Morgan adalah daripada kalangan guru pelatih aliran sains di semester enamdari Program Ijazah Sarjana Muda Pendidikan (Biologi, Kimia, Fizik dan Sains) dari tujuh buahuniversiti awam di Malaysia secara pensampelan rawak berstrata.Kesahan instrumen yang digunakandalam kajian ini adalah melalui Analisis Kesahan Kandungan (I-CVI) yang mengandungi 40 item yangmewakili tujuh elemen IBSE (Penyoalan, Penyiasatan Saintifik, Pengumpulan Data, Menganalisis Data,Penerangan dan Kesimpulan, Penghujahan Berasaskan Bukti, Komunikasi Saintifik). Analisis deskriptifdigunakan bagi melihat min, kekerapan, peratusan dan sisihan piawai manakala statistik inferensimenggunakan Ujian-t sampel bebas dan ANOVA bagi menguji hipotesis nul. Hasil analisis Ujian-tmendapati terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan tentang kefahaman terhadap elemen IBSE antara gurupelatih lelaki dengan guru pelatih perempuan terhadap kesemua elemen IBSE (t=11.6 dan p=0.018).Kesimpulan daripada kajian ini menunjukkan kefahaman guru terhadap elemen IBSE adalah baik secarakeseluruhannya walau bagaimanapun kefahaman terhadap elemen Penyoalan adalah sederhana (min=3.58).Implikasi kajian ini diharap dapat memberi panduan kepada pihak universiti dalam mengintegrasikanelemen IBSE berdasarkan keperluan untuk menyokong ke arah pemantapan pendidikan inkuirikepada bakal-bakal guru.
