The folktales were adapted for use in the classroom to teach Malay. Each of them is made up of a storey for reading, followed by a series of excercises for comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, idioms, and play acting. These activities were specifically desighed to strengthen the learning of Malay. The dissertation is organized in five chapters. Chapter I introduces Thailand as a country, and an account of Malay in the education is also provided. Chapter II gave an account of the methodology used. Chapter III provided a full list of the 25 folktales selected. Chapter IV gave a summary account of the values of those folktales in teaching Malay. Chapter V concluded the dissertation.
