总结:Learning collocations enables EFL learners to position words in suitable context and use them appropriately. Language learners cannot use a word or understand it unless they are familiar with the immediate context in which the word is used. Furthermore, collocations are assumed to be an important factor in communicative competence. The current study aimed to investigate collocational knowledge of Djiboutian EFL learners. The participants of the current study were 20 Djiboutian postgraduate students. The data collection for the present study was done using a multiple-choice test consisting of 60 items and an essay test. This study sought to investigate the correlation between lexical collocation knowledge and writing skills of the Djiboutian students with the purpose of exploring the effect that the knowledge of collocation has on writing production of the Djiboutian students. The results from this study reveal a positive correlation between the collocational knowledge and writing production of the students. The findings also indicate that Djiboutian EFL learners have difficulties with English lexical collocations. Additionally, the findings of the study corroborate the need for EFL students to learn lexical collocations in order to develop writing skills. The outcomes of the study also provide useful implications for foreign language learners and teachers as well as curriculum designers and material developers.
