Summary:This study sought to explore the relationship between employee perceptions on training benefits and affective commitment and work performance among employees of the Public Service Sector. The focus was on three types of benefits viz., personal benefits of training,career benefits of training, and job-relation of training. It also sought to investigate whether affective commitment plays a role as a mediator between personal benefits of training, career benefits of training, and job-relation of training and work performance. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between all three types of training benefits and work performance. However, there was no significant relationship between career benefits of training and job-related of training and affective commitment. There was no significant relationship also between affective commitment and work performance. Hence, affective commitment does not play the role as a mediator between the relationship of training benefits (personal benefits of training, career benefits of training, and job-relation of training) and work performance
