الملخص: | There are numerous cases of unemployment and losses of jobs in Libya with 95% of enterprises consist of SMEs with a 5% contribution of GDP to the economy as shown by the reports. This lower contribution reflects the poor rate of start-ups and low intentions of Libyans to start their business. Therefore, the aim of this study is to examine the factors affecting entrepreneurial intention among Libyan students. The factors affecting
entrepreneurial intention investigated are government support, perceived desirability and perceived feasibility. In addition, the moderating roles of environmental turbulence to these relationships were also examined. Self-administered questionnaires were
constructed and distributed to a sample of 480 students from ten universities in Libya while 317 responses were recovered and recorded. The data was analyzed using SPSS version 25.0 and Smart PLS 3.2, to ensure that the results meet the assumptions of the current study. Similarly, this study tested the linearity and multi-collinearity assumptions. The findings indicate that, perceived desirability and perceived feasibility are positively and significantly related to entrepreneurial intention. Also, environmental turbulence
moderates the relationship between perceived desirability and entrepreneurial intention. This study contributes to the current literature by discussing its implications on both researchers and practitioners. It is recommended that the policy makers should shift their focus on continuous support of young entrepreneurs as the policy and decision in the governance can successfully nurture the potential entrepreneurs with high entrepreneurial spirit, then probability of setting up new business would be higher among the Libyans. |
